  • Exact definition of “Claude account in the US” (billing country vs residence vs IP) — Anthropic only says a US account.
  • Personal waitlist ETA or queue position — invites go out in waves with no published date.
  • Whether Max subscribers get Duet invites before Pro — Max has general “priority access to newest features,” but Duet-specific invite priority is not stated.
  • Exact minutes/hours between background checks — Help Center says “set intervals”; the intro article says checks happen “every few hours.”
  • Any separate Claude Duet API price card — Duet is a consumer app preview on Pro/Max, not an API line item on this page.

How to join the waitlist (official steps)

  1. Open the Claude Duet product page and select Join the waitlist.
  2. Enter your name and the same email as your Claude account.
  3. Choose your Claude plan and phone type (iPhone or Android). You can optionally say what you do and what you would hand off first.
  4. Submit. Anthropic adds people gradually and emails when it is your turn.
  5. Open the invitation on your phone and follow iPhone or Android setup. Use the Apple or Google account linked to that email.
  6. Open Claude Duet and sign in with your Claude account. The app may take a few minutes to become available after you accept.

Research-preview limitations (official)

  1. No model picker — Claude Duet runs on Opus 5.5 and decides how much effort a job needs.
  2. No live browser takeover — you cannot watch it work in its browser or take over that browser.
  3. Interval checks — urgent items can arrive between account checks.
  4. Limited project/file visibility — it cannot see all projects or local computer files; it can read Claude work but not change it.
  5. No phone/SMS to other people — with approval it can send email from connected accounts.
  6. Hard blocks even with approval — e.g. trading securities, moving money between accounts, or accessing someone else's account.
  7. Some connectors limited — e.g. Slack works with limits; Microsoft 365 is not available yet.

Who can access Claude Duet?

Pro or Max plan, a Claude account in the US, and a waitlist invitation. Team and Enterprise are not included yet.

Is Claude Duet on a waitlist?

Yes. Access opens in waves. Joining does not guarantee a specific date. Anthropic emails when it is your turn.

Does Claude Duet cost extra on Pro or Max?

No extra fee during the research preview. It uses your existing Pro/Max usage limits.

Do background checks use my Claude limits?

Yes. Morning brief and check-ins count toward the same five-hour and weekly limits as chat. Larger tasks also use more of the pool.

Is Claude Duet available outside the US?

Not during the research preview. Anthropic states US-only access for now.
